Bernard L. Stein '59

Bernard Stein is a journalist, editor, and professor who has spent over four decades chronicling life and politics in New York City.
Stein was the editor of the Riverdale Press, a local paper covering much of the Bronx, from 1978 - 2008. The paper was praised throughout his tenure for exposing corruption in local school boards and in the Bronx Democratic Party.

In 1998, Stein was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Writing for his editorials on politics and other issues affecting New Yorkers.

Since 2005, Stein has founded two local papers serving the Bronx: The Mott Haven Herald and The Hunts Point Express. Since 2005 he has taught journalism at Hunter College.

Stein graduated from Columbia in 1963 after graduating from Bronx Science in 1959.
