Jon Cryer '83

Jon Cryer is an actor, writer, producer, and director who has appeared in dozens of productions in television, film, and theater. Cryer played the character Alan Harper on the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” for twelve seasons. The role won him Emmys in both the Lead Actor and Supporting Actor categories.

Cryer got his first break at the age of 19, playing alongside Demi Moore in 1984’s “No Small Affair.” Soon thereafter, he played Duckie Dale in the hit movie “Pretty in Pink.”

In addition to his acting credits in television and film, Cryer as appeared on stage, including the NY Philharmonic performance of “Company.” In 2015, he published a memoir, So That Happened, recounting his three decades in show business.

Cryer graduated from Bronx Science in 1983, a year before his onscreen debut.
