Speech & Debate

The Richard B. Sodikow Memorial Fund for Speech & Debate has been established to formalize and encourage financial contributions from supporters of the Speech & Debate Team. Mr. Richard B. Sodikow '55, was the founder of the Bronx Science Speech & Debate Team and its director for thirty years. Mr. Sodikow was an internationally renowned coach, a distinguished member of the English Department, and an active alumnus. At Bronx Science, he was a beloved teacher of Forensics and Shakespeare as well as a tremendously dedicated coach. Under his leadership, Bronx Science students won countless titles on the local, regional, and national level, including championships at Harvard, Emory, Nationals, and the TOC. Mr. Sodikow was an incredible influence on generations of students and colleagues at Bronx Science and in New York, the Northeast, and the Nation.

The funds raised would be used to continue the team's tradition of inclusiveness by providing opportunities to as many students as possible at Bronx Science to participate in Speech & Debate. Donations to the Fund ensure the vitality of the Speech & Debate Team and go directly to reducing students' out-of-pocket costs. Your donation today helps preserve both the legacy and future of the Bronx Science Speech & Debate Team, and Richard B. Sodikow's vision for it.
