The Bronx Science Speech and Debate Team Swept the Villiger Tournament

At the Villiger Tournament, during the weekend of November 23, 2019, the team earned many accolades. Click the headline to read about them.

In Congressional Debate, Thomas Bakos (’22) placed 6th, earning a bid to the Tournament of Champions, and Angelena Bougiamas (’22), Alina Hassan (’21), and Gurpreet Singh (’21) tied for 14th place.

In Extemporaneous Speaking, Kelly Liu (’21) broke to semifinals, earning a bid to the Tournament of Champions.

In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Noah Getz (’21) and Yona Litwin (’22) broke to quarterfinals, and Harper Learmonth (’20) had a winning record. Additionally, Yona Litwin (’22) earned 4th speaker, Noah Getz (’21) earned 7th speaker, and Harper Learmonth (’20) earned 12th speaker.

In Oral Interpretation, Noelle Barile (’21) broke to quarterfinals.

In Original Oratory, Emery John (’20) broke to quarterfinals.

In Public Forum Debate, the teams of Kyle Chen (’21) & Niso Nahmiyas (’20) and Clara Barschdorff (’21) & Taylor Elliott (’21) broke to double octofinals. Additionally, Taylor Elliott (’21) earned 4th speaker.

In Program Oral Interpretation, Charlie Valencia (’20) placed 6th.
