Bronx Science dominates the Yale Invitational
The Bronx Science Speech and Debate team dominated across all events at the Yale Invitational held during the weekend of September 14, 2019. The Speech and Debate Team earned a fourth-place sweepstakes award at the tournament while also qualifying competitors for elimination rounds in all events!
In Policy Debate, Isaac Rjavinski (’20) and Eugene Toth (’20) came in second place, Emma Basch (’20) and Emily Chan (’20) broke to semifinals and Akif Choudhury (’21) and Luca Musk (’21) broke to quarterfinals. Additionally, Eugene Toth (’20) earned first speaker, Isaac Rjavinski (’20) earned second speaker and Luca Musk (’21) earned fourth speaker.
In Congressional Debate, five debaters earned bids to the 2020 Tournament of Champions. Arjun Mazumdar (’21) broke to finals, while Jonathan Bar-On (’20), Timothy Brett (’21), Amanda Caress (’20), and Garreth Hui (’20) broke to semifinals.
In Public Forum Debate, Benjamin Oestericher (‘20) and Elias Silver (‘20) broke to octofinals and earned a bid to the Gold TOC and a qualification to the New York State Forensic League State Championship. The teams of Tenzin Dadak (‘21) and Ayanava Ganguly (‘21) and Aerin Mann (‘21) and Kate Reynolds (‘21) broke to triple octofinals.
Additionally, Benjamin Oestericher (’20) earned seventh speaker.
In Lincoln Douglas Debate, Annie Wang (’20) broke to double octofinals and received fourth speaker.
In Speech, the Duo Interpretation team of Elana Abrams (’21) and Enza Jonas-Giugni (’21) broke to semifinals.
