    Mon, November 5

Attendance will be taken, and cuts will be issued.

The only way to be excused from class will be by providing an Out of Building Pass.

9th Grade Advisory:  Allows students to learn important and time sensitive information. This will enable them to navigate their freshmen year, as well as their high school career, with ease. These lessons will take place on Mondays (schedule below) during 10th period (3:00-3:40 p.m.) and will allow students to gain important insight from their fellow students, as well as begin to build a rapport with their counselor. While we will cover a variety of topics, and students can look forward to learning about: transitioning to Bronx Science, extracurricular opportunities, time management, course selection, making healthy choices, and many more exciting topic!   The private bus company, Vallo, has graciously provided students with transportation. Unfortunately, due to the number of students, not every student will be able to take Vallo home at 3:40 p.m. and these buses will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. • SLT (School Leadership Team)
    SLT (School Leadership Team)
    Mon, November 19
The SLT meets in the Principal's office at 3:45 PM -parents/guardians/guests are welcome to attend as Observers.

What is a School Leadership Team?

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies.

    SLTs:

    • Provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement.
    • Play an important role in school-based decision-making
    • Help to make school cultures more collaborative.

    Who are the SLT members?

There are three members of the school community who must be members of the SLT:

    1. Principal
    2. Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association President
    3. United Federation of Teachers Chapter Leader

The other members are elected parents and staff members. The SLT must have an equal number of parents and staff.

An SLT can also include students (a minimum of two students is required in high school SLTs) and representatives from community-based organizations (CBOs) that work with the school. Students and CBO representatives do not count when determining whether a team has an equal number of parents and staff. The exact composition of a school’s SLT is stated in the team’s bylaws.
